Offered at: $1,800,000 USD $1,150,000 USD This spacious and substantial property has a vibe all its own. Though the beach side of the property is only a few steps above the sand, it is elevated enough to render the home, gardens and pool invisible to anyone walking the beach in front. Yet from the pool area and huge palapa, there are gorgeous views of the ocean, the Bay and Troncones Point. The property, designed by Enrique Zozaya, is very private, very comfortable and it is situated on a very desirable spot on Manzanillo Bay. This lovely home and property has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, 56 meters of beachfront and a total area of just over an acre. (4,632 m2) The pedestrian street entrance is next to the two-car garage. The tall entry gates are woven dark wood. Just inside the gates we pass by colorful hibiscus, bougainvillea, bird of paradise and beautiful agaves on our way to the entry to the house itself. The open entryway offers a stellar view over the front lawns and landscaping to the ocean. The main construction of the house is L shaped. From the entry, the long part of the L is to our left, the shorter side is straight ahead. A deep, shaded patio runs along the front of the house and wraps down the south side as well. There are two sets of pocket doors in most doorways. The interior set is screened; the outer set is louvered. All the ceilings appear to be at least 12’ high and probably 15’ at the roof peaks. There are traditional Saltillo floor tiles throughout the house and patio areas, which add to the substantial feel of the place. The four bedrooms are all to our left, down the long leg of the L. The first three are similar. They are spacious enough for King sized beds or two twins. Each has two small closets with hanging space and shelves. Each has an en suite bathroom with talavera tile accents and showers. There are wood furnishings and interesting art pieces on the walls. All the bedrooms have airflow from front to back. The fourth bedroom is the large master. It boasts built-in bedside tables and a built-in desktop on one wall. It has a large screened window on the south side and a killer ocean view directly from the bed. The huge en suite bathroom includes two sinks, a large shower and four closets. The whole home is tastefully decorated with traditional Mexican art pieces and this definitely includes the outside bedroom walls that face the patio. The art reflects a pleasing mix of styles and time periods. It’s almost like a gallery. On the short side of the L, there is a living/reading/TV room with built-in couch and a large coffee table with a cactus wood base. Off the east side of this room is a full bathroom. On the opposite wall is another huge set of pocket doors that lead to the dining area. The dining area, sitting/conversation area and the breakfast bar are all shaded by the high ceilings but are open to the gentle breezes off the bay. The views from here include the beach and waters of Manzanillo Bay, including the Troncones left break. The breakfast bar opens into the kitchen through a large pass through. The long counters and big kitchen island are finished with polished cement tinted a pleasant soft yellow. The island includes a six-burner stovetop above an oven. The kitchen offers generous counter space, shelves, drawers and other storage. And then there is the walk-in pantry with an extra refrigerator and all kinds of storage space. The kitchen opens on the west side to the deep patio in front where you’ll find a round table with four chairs. Outside to the north of the kitchen is a side patio with a built-in BBQ. The land slopes gently from the house to the front edge of the property that is still about 10 feet above the beach. A rock border and hedges of bougainvillea and ixora above the pathway down to the beach further enhance the property’s privacy. The lawns are interspersed with impressive cobbled pathways cleverly designed to assist with water run-off during the rainy season. The mature landscaping includes lots of agave, numerous palms including a gorgeous specimen of blue/grey fan palm. There is something pretty to look at in all directions, colorful blooms, interesting foliage and beautiful trees. In the northwest corner of the property is an enormous palapa that shades a huge area for hanging out in and hosting parties. There is plenty of room for chaise lounges and other beach furniture. To one side is a built-in bar with sink and place for a BBQ. To the south of the palapa, the big beautiful cobalt blue tiled pool is situated parallel to the unseen beach below. Along the north side of the property between the beach road and the house proper are caretakers’ quarters and a large service patio. The property is located within easy walking, by beach or road, to a number of restaurants on the Bay. It is also just a short bike ride or drive to the fishing village of Majahua where there are several family owned restaurants and where, early in the morning, the daily catch can be purchased directly from the fishermen. This grand property is being offered fully furnished.
